Arts and Crafts

The stunning beauty of Pembrokeshire it is a mecca for the large contingent of artists who live, work or draw inspiration from the area.

Love spoons have been made since the 17th century and is a tradition which can still be found today.

IN WOOD can be found at Cold Inn Broadmoor about 5 miles from Tenby. At the love spoon workshop you will be able to see just how the love spoon is designed and made as well as purchasing one of the ready-made examples. You will also be able to have a commission made using your own unique circumstances as the intricate carvings on your spoon.

In-Wood is open Monday to Friday and can be contacted on:

NEW - Correspondence Course for Improvers

The aim of this course is to move beyond the basic beginners' techniques and to push boundaries so that you are able to develop your pastel skills and familiarity with the medium.

There are more exercises than in the beginners' course, aiming to increase your confidence and practical skills.

Below are two of the pastel paintings you will learn to produce using step-by-step pictures and text. You will be able to return exercises to me for assessment and guidance.

Please use the link below to e-mail me for the free course notes and price structure.

Annabel Greenhalgh was born on the Wirral where her love of the sea and coastal landscapes was first awakened. Having moved to pembrokeshire twenty years ago, she continues to be inspired by her surroundings.Annabel spends much of her time on beaches, coastal paths and hills, gatheing sketches, photographs, memories and inspiration.

"Pastel has a density of colour which gives me the depth and solidty I need for my work. It is always exciting to see the natural earth pigments contained within the pastel emerge again as the image on the board. I love the tactile applicaton of pastels, an extention of my hand, allowing thoughts to move freely.

Through my work, I hope to convey the wealth of emotion that can be found in the natural world, from the thrill of an impending storm to the peace of the summer stillness; the ever changing landscape holds the key to our joy of being."

A small sample of Annabels work can be viewed at the "about Pembrokeshire page" (about us) on this website. It is also widely available at various exhibitions throughout the summer months or at her home at Tavernspite.

Prints in the form of cards are also widely available in shops around the county and beyond.
